I'm not a local (I'm from a couple hours away in Oklahoma) but this is one of those places mostly locals know about unless you find out about from a place like this. It's absolutely a hidden gem! I was in a group of six and everyone picked either the Friday catfish or the country fried (chicken fried) steak. We had a variety of different side items. We were ALL impressed with our choices. My country fried steak was EXCELLENT! The gravy can make or break this item - the gravy was perfect. The green beans were so good it had me searching the juice at the bottom of the bowl to make sure I hadn't missed a piece. Genuine mashed potatoes too. It was all just as good as you could hope for! The service was right up there at the top too - we didn't need for anything. Everyone was very nice obviously care about their customers. Our plates didn't arrive at the same time, but within a minute or two of each other - because they are really cooking in the back and it shows. It's also not a complete budget buster to eat at Mother Kelley's - I was wondering how they were selling a few of the items on the menu for the very reasonable prices. The building doesn't look like a restaurant from the outside (I'm wondering if it used to be something like a real estate or insurance office) and I've definitely driven past it many, many times and never noticed the place before. This is one place that WAY over delivered on what I was hoping for. I'm ready for my next visit and I just ate lunch there TODAY. Thanks everyone there! THUMBS UP!!!

This is an awesome place. The staff is extremely friendly and the food is incredible. Definitely can tell real Home Cooking is going on here. Definitely will be a must stop in every time im in town.

The BEST fried catfish I have ever had! Service was friendly and fast! The food was amazing. I’ll make this drive from Austin, TX all over again! I will be back! Thank you ladies and gentlemen for such a wonderful meal!

Once again Mother Kelley's did not disappoint. We were greeted before we both got through the door. The dining area is welcoming and spotless. After we decided which of the appetizing dishes we wanted, our order was taken at the desk and our experience got started. We chose our table where our server quickly brought our drinks and utensils. Our dinners were fast to follow. I love mashed potatoes with gravy so I had to have a bite as soon as my plate was on the table. I thought I heard harp music when I took that bite. I also had the most delicious fried okra and chicken fried steak that I have had probably since the last time I ate at Mother Kelley's. The steak had a beautiful crust and the meat was tender. Our drinks were refilled and we were offered carry out drinks which we accepted along with a carry out container for my companion. Before we got to the door we were invited back by the staff. I had enjoyed one of those meals that you don't want to end. We went before the noon rush so we had all the time we wanted to enjoy our meals; however, at noon there is a waiting line for a table. My advice is to go before the rush. You can wait until after the rush, but you risk finding your favorite daily special sold out.

The place is absolutely amazing! The ladies were son nice! I found this place on Google while taking a spontaneous road trip to Texarkana. This was the best breakfast I've had in years! I'll definitely be back! Would absolutely suggest coming here!

If ever I had a better onion ring I don't remember them. Everything was great and all the staff was so friendly.

I’ve heard good things about this restaurant for awhile from family so I decided to finally try it. It did not disappoint. The soul food was delicious and reasonably priced for this economy. The staff were very polite. I had the smothered pork chop with two sides of mash potatoes and cornbread casserole and a biscuit. The cornbread casserole was particularly tasty. They seem to rotate the menu daily. In total it was a little over 12 without the tip

This place is BOMB! I got the chicken fried steak w/white gravy, black eyed peas, mashed potatoes w/gravy and hot water cornbread. Finished it off with a delicious tea cake. It was absolutely delicious. The fam got beef tips over rice plate. It was very tender and flavorful. The service there was great and very nice atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back and try other things on the menu.
